Translation Studies Students’ Networking Event: We Were Also There
We were thrilled to participate in the Translation Studies Students’ Networking Event (Çeviribilim Öğrencileri Kaynaşma Buluşması) on Saturday, October 11, hosted by the Çeviribilim Dayanışma Platformu.
It was a fantastic event where young translators gathered and talked about their experiences from various fields and gave important tips to peers looking to follow the same path.
Our Project Coordinator, Çağatay, also attended the event as one of the guest speakers, sharing his own experiences in the industry. He addressed and answered many intriguing questions, particularly within the context of adapting to developing technology.

After highlighting the importance of AI, CAT Tools and other software use, he shared his perspective on the transformation and the future of translation profession with the following statement:
“The rapid advance of technology, and the effects it has on the industry are leading us to become translators that have more to offer. For example, in an ad translation project, just translating the words is not the expectation from a translator. The translator is also responsible for the audio-visual elements. The translator is expected to provide creative solutions in the process of transferring the source culture elements to the target culture. This is because we’re language experts. It seems certain that versatility has a gradually increasing importance in the future of the translation profession.”
This shows us that rather than disappearing, the translation profession is in constant change and transformation just as it has been throughout history.
We extend our sincere thanks to Çeviribilim Dayanışma Platformu for organizing this beautiful event, and also to the supporters alongside us, to ABC Loc with whom we’re honored to both compete and work together, and to WLTR with whom our paths always cross in the projects that support translation students since the day they were founded.
