TS EN ISO 17100:2015 Localization and Translation Services
It contains all the resources and processes necessary to provide high-quality service. This standard requires the translation provider to make available the necessary tools and resources to produce a product that meets the demands of the customer. These resources may include; the demands of the customer, and the rules and guidelines of the party who provides the translation service. CAT tools, the revisions of post-editors, and interpreting do not fall within the scope of this standard.
ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System
It involves the quality conditions to be used during situations in which an organization needs to demonstrate its ability to consistently provide products and services. It focuses on achieving customer satisfaction at every stage, from production and design and to after-sales services. A quality management system is outlined under the following main headings: management responsibility, resource management, product realization, measurement, analysis and improvement.
EN 15038:2006 Translation Services – Service Requirements
Recognized by the European Union, this standard allows the translation client to scale the service and quality of their translation service provider. A translation service provider meeting these system standards operates on the basis of human resources, technical resources, equipment, project management, linguistic competence, and customer relationship management requirements. They also adopt processes of archiving, evaluating, and monitoring the translations.
EN 15038:2006 Translation Services – Quality Management System
This certificate is only granted to companies that operate in the translation sector and provide translation services. This certificate, which helps earn the trust of the recipient of the service by enabling the implementation of the steps necessary to provide good services in line with the customers’ demands, defines the quality standards to be met by the service provider, gives a detailed description of each standard, and allows the client to evaluate the service. This certificate does not cover interpretation services. The party that provides the service must possess an ISO 9001 standard compliance certificate as a prerequisite.
TSE ISO/TS 11669 Translation Projects
It contains all the steps to be followed in translation projects. It aims to facilitate communication between the service provider and the service receiver. This certificate is open to the use of parties that provide the service, receive the service and use the translation product.
ISO 18587:2017 Translation Services – Post-editing of Machine Translation Output – Requirements
It covers the use of machine translation (MT) programs, which are becoming increasingly popular in meeting the needs of the translation and localization industry. It includes the post-machine translation work of editors, who make the necessary adjustments, in the translation process. It provides the necessary steps to be taken to achieve quality work. It is a certificate that defines the competences and language skills of editors as well as the competences and language skills of project managers.
ISO 20539:2019 Translation, Interpreting and Related Technology – Vocabulary
Prepared by the ISO/TC 37 committee within the scope of ISO 20539, this declaration of conformity lays out the vocabulary for translation, interpreting and related technologies, and it standardizes the scope of certain concepts and job descriptions.
ISO 12616-1:2002 Translation-oriented Terminography
It provides guidelines to enable the recording, storing, and, when needed, easy retrieval of terminology used for a specific topic in a translated document. This terminology list, which constitutes a source for future translations related to the translation of the relevant file, acts as a guide. It ensures consistency in terminology.
ISO/TC 37 Language and Terminology
